The borough council currently provides and maintains a total of 29 pay and display car parks throughout the four town centres of Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley. There are also a number of free car parks in outlying villages. View our car park locations and charges.
Derbyshire County Council is responsible for on street civil parking enforcement and Amber Valley Borough Council manage the car parks and associated off street parking enforcement.
There is the option for residents to purchase a parking permit for use in all car parks during specific times. Alternatively, residents and non-residents can purchase a season ticket that has unrestricted use in all long stay car parks.
Most car parks have spaces close to key facilities specifically for disabled persons.
We do not charge motorcycles to park, however, when parking they must adhere to the regulations relating to the car parks. For example, short stay, and be parked in a marked bay. Please check individual car park signage for more details.
Did you know that if you pay for your parking by card, you can obtain an electronic receipt by entering your details at myparkingreceipts.com.
Cash payment is taken at all council pay and display machines, at some locations debit and credit card payments can be taken.
We are currently experiencing an increase in the level of card declines with Barclaycard payments. This is an intermittent issue, and we are working with the bank to mitigate this challenge. All other card payment suppliers are operational. If your Barclaycard transaction fails or is declined, you should make payment by an alternative method such as cash or an alternative card provided. We are unable to accept Applepay or Googlepay mobile payments.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your patience.
In order to utilise the borough car parks, you must display a valid pay and display voucher or season ticket.
If you have been issued with a penalty charge notice please follow the instructions on the reverse of the notice. All tickets are issued by Parksmarter and if any further information is required you can contact them on 01629 533190.
