Two new Covid Support Wardens have been deployed by Amber Valley Borough Council to help local businesses comply with the Covid regulations and keep the infection rate down.
The two wardens are patrolling the borough, responding to queries from businesses and the public. They have been paid for through funding received from central government specifically provided for the purpose.
They will patrol the whole borough on a flexible rota basis which enables them to react to complaints and enquiries that come into the council. They have already been able to assist local supermarkets in advising some shoppers that they need to wear face coverings in store.
The wardens, who are Security Industry Authority registered, are working closely with the council’s Environmental Health Officers. They currently operate Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 4.00pm with their roles being reviewed when the current restrictions are revised on the 16 December.
Leader of Amber Valley Borough Council, Councillor Chris Emmas-Williams, commented "The new Covid Support Wardens will be able to provide assistance to local businesses and at the same time, reassurance to shoppers in the town centres. We are hoping their efforts will help us in reducing the infection rate in the borough."
