Ambitious projects in council plan

Projects totalling over £5m, many of which are aimed at creating new job opportunities and supporting local residents into high quality affordable housing, are included in a draft asset management plan being presented to full council on 30th January.

Some key highlights include, a £1 million pound commitment to providing shared ownership houses, to give local residents the opportunity of an affordable first step into home ownership, as well as further proposals to develop surplus land to provide family homes.

The council is also seeking to provide a further £1 million to develop small industrial units to allow business start-ups to establish and grow within the borough and is seeking to attract a hotel operator to Belper, both of which will provide new job opportunities.

Councillor Kevin Buttery, leader of the council commented: “I am very proud to announce the publication of Amber Valley Borough Council’s draft asset management plan, which I believe, represents an ambitious and exciting set of proposals, which will make a real and positive difference to residents of the borough.”
