The course will run in conjunction with an established kickboxing class at either Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley Leisure Centres which have been running for between 3 and 13 years in each location. The classes are friendly with a focus on positive encouragement and practical application of martial arts and self defence. Open to all fitness and experience levels, even if you haven’t exercised in years, the class will lead you through practical application of techniques to real life scenarios and a cool down.

You’ll be learning practical self defence techniques with a focus on kickboxing, one of the most accessible and easy to pick up martial arts around. You’ll learn how to use your body position to make the most of your strength as well as real life tips on how to stay safe. This will range from learning how to use the right parts of the body to target areas and having a strong, positive psychological frame of mind.

Just wear what you’d normally wear to the gym and bring a drink.

You will be barefoot during the class.

Class equipment will be provided by Derbyshire Kickboxing for use during the classes in the form of boxing gloves, focus mitts, kick shields and target pads. All equipment is kept in a good state of repair to ensure the safety of students when used as directed.

Not at all. The classes are open to all ages from 7 years up and any fitness level. Derbyshire Kickboxing firmly believe in positivity when learning new things and most certainly are not shouty drill sergeants.
