Switch on! Borough’s CCTV upgrade complete

A £95,000 upgrade of CCTV systems is now complete across Amber Valley’s four town centres -. Ripley, Heanor, Belper and Alfreton. Details of the locations of the CCTV cameras can be found on the Council’s website - www.ambervalley.gov.uk/cctvpublic

The purpose-designed digital CCTV upgrade has been funded and installed by Amber Valley Borough Council.

The aim of the project was to replace the old CCTV cameras, dating back to the mid 90s, with live high-definition pictures which for the first time will be monitored 24/7 at a CCTV monitoring suite provided by Mansfield District Council, with a broadband link back to the Town Hall in Ripley.

Working in partnership with Mansfield District Council has allowed Amber Valley to benefit from new state-of-the-art CCTV technology.

Recordings and still images can be reproduced and used by the police to identify individuals or incidents. High quality CCTV systems deter vandals and reduce reparation costs, reducing criminal investigation times and deterring anti-social behaviour.
